1. Visa Exemption (Tourism)

No advance application needed. Stamp on arrival. No paid work allowed.
2. Digital Nomad Visa
Duration: 6 months | Income required: ¥10M/year (~$68,000) | Cost: ¥3,000
Launched in 2024. Work remotely for non-Japanese clients. Not renewable in Japan. Apply at the Japanese consulate.
3. Work Visa
Requires employer sponsorship (COE). Categories: Engineer, Instructor, Intra-company Transfer, HSP. HSP fast-tracks permanent residency.
4. Student Visa
COE required via your institution. Allows part-time work (28 hrs/week max).
